2023 studio news

There has been quite a lot happening over the last few months, including some new team members and some other developments as well, and this update blog post is long overdue!

Matty McGregor, our long-suffering Architectural Assistant, left at the end of the summer to undertake his master’s degree at the University of Manchester. Matty has been a great part of the team, he’s an extremely talented chap, we’re missing him immensely, and we wish him the very best of luck!

However, last summer, we were joined by Cameron Gregory and Adam Hedge.

Cameron is currently studying at Sheffield Hallam University, however, he joined our team over the summer break of 2022, on a placement basis. Since being at the practice, Cameron has taken to the architectural visualization and 3D printing side of things. He has helped us develop new ways of illustrating our schemes, and helped create an (almost) foolproof system for moving from two-dimensional site layouts into fully realised 3D computer models which we can use to produce visuals as well as physical models and even immersive VR experiences. He’s helped us produce a set of scale 3D printed models of one of our client’s house type ranges, as well as various physical models for projects we’ve been working on. With his summer break now over, Cam is now continuing to work for us part-time while he completes his final year, and we’re looking forward to seeing the result of his final design project.

Adam graduated from the Leeds School of Architecture at Leeds Beckett University in summer 2022 and joined us less than two weeks after his graduation. Even though he has only been with the company for a short while, he has been learning a great deal about residential development, housebuilding, and architectural visualization. He has helped with the production of renders for our current projects and helped with general drawing work in AutoCAD and Photoshop. Adam has also taken on the role of managing and maintaining the social media accounts whilst also designing and producing the newly updated website.

Over the last couple of months, Hope Architects has been working to update our online presence. The website has had a complete overhaul, and went live in the autumn. It’s a somewhere you can now find information regarding our current and past projects, our team, and the practice, as well as this blog! We’re also working to engage more on social media - our Instagram, LinkedIn, and Twitter have started to see more engagement with new posts being uploaded twice a week. Our social links are to be found at the bottom of this page, we’d love to see you following us…

As part of the website work, the team took part in an informal office photo shoot. Kieran, our Urban Designer, brought in his big fancy camera and took some shots in and around the office including portrait photos for each team member. The team had great fun posing and pretending to work for the camera, and we all went to the pub for some lunch afterwards. We’re trying to give everyone a picture of our work, our culture and our people, and hopefully we’ll keep this blog updated with these sort of stories as we go on.
